Addis Ababa, July 1, 2023 (FBC) – Over 300,000 farmers have benefited from market links created by industrial parks situated in several parts of Ethiopia, according to Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC).
Head of Marketing Communication Department at the IPDC, Zemen Junedin stated that farmers in areas where agro-industrial parks are operating have directly supplied their products to the manufacturers, making use of the nearby market opportunities.
Malt barley and avocado products are among the major agricultural products the farmers are directly supplying to the manufacturing industries, he said.
He added that activities are underway to create more market links between a linen fabric producing company in Adama Industrial Park and farmers engaged in flaxseed cultivation in the area.
Likewise, preparations are being carried out to forge market link between camel milk producing companies in Afar region and semi-pastoralists in the region, he pointed out.
The Pretoria Peace Agreement has paved the way for reinvigoration of the flow of foreign direct investment into the country, Zemen indicated.
