Addis Ababa, September 4, 2024 (FBC) – The 1st Africa Urban Forum officially kicked off in Addis Ababa at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum in participation of participants from 47 countries, Mayors of cities in the continent, religious leaders, elders, scholars and other stakeholders.
Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh and Mayor of Addis Ababa Adanech Abiebie along with other high ranking government officials are also in attendance of the forum which is taking place under the theme “Sustainable Urbanization for Africa’s Transformation”.
It is stated that Addis Ababa and other cities of Ethiopia will take the opportunity to showcase their best experiences with their African counterparts.
Participants are expected to visit mega projects underway in Addis Ababa and tourist destinations in the capital.
The forum is said to align with the transformative vision of Africa’s Agenda 2063 and serves as a pivot for addressing urban related issues in Africa.
The format of the African Urban Forum will include round-tables, panel discussions, dialogues, side events, assemblies, and exhibitions.
The three day Inaugural Africa Urban Forum 2024 will run until 6 September 2024.
