Addis Ababa, April 18, 2024 (FBC) – The Director General of Immigration and Citizenship Service of Ethiopia, Selamawit Dawit, convened a meeting and engaged in discussions with the representatives of the Ethiopian community in Jeddah and its environs to address matters concerning travel documents and passports.
In Jeddah, representatives of Ethiopian citizens hailing from the seven states that the Ethiopian Consulate in Jeddah covers actively participated in the dialogue aimed at resolving the challenges faced by citizens regarding passports and official documentation.
During the event, Ms. Selamawit emphasized that significant focus has been placed on resolving the issue of passport renewal. The Director General confirmed that renewal services for passports and associated documents have been extended to citizens who had previously submitted applications for legal documentation.
She highlighted that citizenship verification procedures will be carried out meticulously and with heightened vigilance. In this context, Selamawit urged the community to collaborate with her organization in identifying and reporting illegal intermediaries and human traffickers.
She affirmed that the initiatives being implemented to tackle the issue concerning travel documents are progressively enhancing, yet there still exists a substantial disparity in meeting the demands effectively.
