ILO, ERA ink MoU to forge partnership in promoting decent employment

Addis Ababa, October 13, 2023 (FBC) – ILO (International Labor Organization) and Ethiopian Roads Administration (ERA) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding which aims to strengthen the existing partnership and collaboration for the coming 5 years in the promotion of decent employment.

During the signing ceremony, Alexio Musindo, Country Director of ILO Country Office for the Horn Africa, reminded the long-time relationship between the two parties, while underscoring the need to translate the aspirations in the agreement into concrete actions.

It is mentioned that the two parties also discussed the upcoming 20th ILO Regional Seminar for Labour-based Practitioners which Ethiopia was popularly elected to host.

For his part, Mohammed Abdurahman, Director-General of Ethiopian Roads Administration, expressed the commitment of his office to successfully host the seminar with the support of the ILO and other partners.

Meanwhile, Mr. Asfaw Kidanu, ILO Senior Specialist, Employment-Intensive Investment Programme, said the seminar will provide an opportunity to showcase Ethiopia as the best tourist destination and share its experiences in the application of the labor-based approach in infrastructure development to countries in Africa and beyond in the spirit of south-south collaboration, as per ILO Horn of Africa.
