Addis Ababa, July 7, 2023 (FBC) – A blood donation event involving 60 participants took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with a national need of increasing the blood donation rate.
The event, organized by Heavenly Culture, World Peace Restoration of Light(HWPL), International Peace Youth Group(IPYG), and the National Blood Bank, targeted Ethiopian youth organizations and human rights groups in Addis Ababa.
In order to promote the will of peace, a blood donation event was held in Ethiopia, where bloodshed incident took place until recently due to the domestic conflict, notable attendees included Terrefe Tafese, Program Manager of the Association for Friendship Support; Chalachew Worku, Co-founder of Positive Peace Ethiopia. Model AU and Safe Light also joined in this event to take part in the purpose.
According to research, engaging in volunteer activities such as blood donation has been shown to reduce symptoms of depression, improve overall health, lower the risk of physical decline, and even extend lifespan, it is stated on the occasion.
Apart from its physical benefits, blood donation also promotes a sense of self-worth and community spirit, contributing to psychological well-being, it was learned.
One participant, Mr. Chalachew Worku, Co-founder of Positive Peace Ethiopia, stated, “Today, we came here to give life. Because donating blood is giving life. Many people come here by our calling. Next time, we want to work with HWPL many works. We make different teaching about peace with HWPL. We have individually arranged peace teaching. So with HWPL, we will organize university, colleges. And we need other organizations to join this. ”
The campaign serves as an opportunity to encourage and promote voluntary blood donation in Ethiopia through collaborations with local organizations. It underscores the importance of collective efforts in raising awareness and fostering a culture of voluntary blood donation.
On a broader scale, HWPL, established on May 25, 2013, is an international peace organization registered as a non-governmental organization with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Department of Global Communications (DGC). Its mission revolves around achieving global peace and the cessation of wars worldwide.
