Addis Ababa, September 6, 2024 (FBC) – Tilahun Kebede, Chief Administrator of the South Ethiopia Regional State, has officially launched the construction of new homes for individuals displaced by the recent landslides in the Gofa Zone.
During the announcement, Tilahun emphasized that the regional government is actively collaborating with various stakeholders to provide essential support to those currently residing in temporary shelters. He assured the public that efforts are being made to address the issue sustainably.
Coinciding with the nation’s observation of “Breakthrough Day,” the Chief Administrator revealed the permanent housing being built in a safer location away from the hazard zones. “Together, we can overcome any challenge and continue to progress,” he asserted.
Tilahun also expressed his gratitude to all Ethiopians, along with governmental and non-governmental organizations, for their ongoing assistance to the victims of the landslides occurred in Gofa Zone in July of this year.
