House passes decision to extend fourth census

Addis Ababa, June 11, 2020 (FBC) – In its joint Meeting with Council of Federation, the House of Peoples Representatives has passed a decision to postpone the Population and Housing Census for third time.

The house has passed the decision that extends the census amid coronavirus pandemic through majority with 5 against and 13 abstentions.

The house, during  its 16th ordinary session held today, has also approved the draft proclamation issued to privatization of public development enterprises with 16 against and 3 abstentions.

The house has also approved the draft proclamations set to legalize Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council with 1 vote against, and Council of Ethiopian Evangelical Churches with 2 against and 2 abstentions respectively.
