Addis Ababa, September 22, 2020 (FBC) – The FDRE House of Peoples Representatives during its 5th year 4th emergency session underway today, has approved appointments of Dr. Kenea Yadeta as Defense Minister, Dr. Gedion Timothewos as Attorney General, Engineer Takelle Umma as Mines and Petroleum Minister and Dr. Samuel Hurkato as Science and Higher Education Minister with majority vote.
MPs also approved the nomination of forty candidate judges to Federal High Court with majority vote and five abstentions.
Likewise, it endorsed nomination of fifty candidate judges of Federal Primary Court with majority vote and three abstentions.
The house is expected to scrutinize the minutes of the 3rd emergency session and approve it accordingly.
New Ministerial appointments are also expected to be approved by the house.
The House is also supposed to approve the appointment of nominee judges for the federal Supreme Court and federal first instance courts.
In its 4th emergency session, the house is also set to assess and pass decision accordingly on the report the women, youth, Social Affairs and Legal, Justice, and Democratic Affairs Standing Committees submitted to it regarding the recommendations forwarded by Ministry of Health on prospects of COVID 19 responsive measures.
The draft proclamation on COVID 19 emergency response budget program loan agreement between Ethiopia and the Exim Bank of Korea is said to be approved by the house.
Furthermore, a draft proclamation of a loan agreement between the EXIM Bank and Ethiopia for COVID 19 medical equipment supply is to be assessed and approved by the house.
A draft Proclamation of a loan agreement between Ethiopia and Dansek Bank Group of Denmark for Asela wind power generation is among the approvals expected to be made by the house.
