HortiFlora Expo 2025: Ethiopia sets the stage for global horticulture partnerships

Addis Ababa, March 20, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia is set to host the 9th International Floriculture and Horticulture Trade Fair (HortiFlora Ethiopia 2025) from April 1 to 3 at Millennium Hall in Addis Ababa.

The event, organized by the Ethiopian Horticulture Producer Exporters Association (EHPEA) in collaboration with HPP Exhibitions Worldwide, will bring together over 133 exhibitors from different countries, including growers, exporters, investors, and industry stakeholders.

HortiFlora Ethiopia 2025 will serve as a key platform for showcasing Ethiopia’s growing horticulture industry, which has become a major global player in floriculture and fresh produce exports. The industry has generated more than 200,000 direct jobs, particularly benefiting women and youth, while ranking among the country’s top three foreign exchange earners.

Breifing the media this morning, EHPEA Executive Director Mr. Tewodros Zewdie said the trade fair will not only showcase Ethiopia’s horticulture potential but also attract investment and strengthen international partnerships.

He noted that in addition to floriculture and fresh produce exhibitors, fertilizer and chemical producers, greenhouse technology companies, and academic institutions from several countries will take part. Nine side events, including high-level panel discussions, are also scheduled.

HortiFlora Expo 2025 is expected to contribute to Ethiopia’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry and the broader economy, he mentioned, asserting that the event will be attended by senior government officials, members of the diplomatic community, and industry leaders.

Tewodros called on regional governments to seize the opportunity for job creation and urged higher educational institutions to engage in the sector’s development.

Dick Van Raamsdonk, CEO at HPP Exhibitions Worldwide, emphasized Ethiopia’s increasing significance in the global horticulture market, stating that the event will further enhance the country’s international standing.

The official also highlighted the role of Ethiopian Cargo’s refrigerated transport in supporting the industry’s export growth. He stated that this year’s event will be different for its variety and diversity.

HortiFlora Expo is a business-oriented trade fair open exclusively to qualified industry professionals, including growers, exporters, and buyers. Organizers anticipate that this year’s edition will position Ethiopia as a leading horticulture hub in Africa and beyond.
