Addis Ababa, March 31, 2021 (FBC) – The Finance Ministers of the Horn of Africa Region have today deliberated on regional cooperation and development issues.
In the webinar discussion, the Finance Ministers have explored ways to enhance regional development and address economic problems seen the region.
Their discussion mainly focused at alleviating Coronavirus induced economic crisis, desert locust swarms and food security challenges in the horn of Africa.
On the occasion, Ethiopian Finance Minister, Ahmed Shede underlined that the Coronavirus pandemic has posed severe social and economic crisis in low income African countries.
Ahmed stressed need to enhanced regional cooperation to tackle further economic turmoil in the horn, calling for collective efforts to mitigate growing challenges related to debt burden problems aggravated by prevalence of the pandemic.
In addition to Ahmed Shede of Ethiopia, Finance Ministers of Djibouti, Kenya, Somalia, Eritrea and Sudan have participated in the webinar.
