Addis Ababa, May 2, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopian Christians have congregated in in Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo and Catholic churches to attend prayers and other religious services dedicated to the Holy Thursday which commemorates Jesus Christ’s Last Supper with his disciples and washing of their feet to teach humility.
Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, His Holiness Abune Matias and Cardinal of the Ethiopian Catholic Church, His Eminence Abune Birhaneyesus Surafel washed the feet of faithful and the clergy in venerations of the example set by Jesus Christ.
In Ethiopia, Holy Thursday is marked with fasting, prayers and prostration in a way that depicts act of submission and humility by the faithful.
