Addis Ababa, May 29, 2024 (FBC) – The annual meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church kicked off today in Addis Ababa.
During the opening session, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, His Holiness Abune Mathias emphasized the necessity of dialogue and strong unity to address the challenging issues facing the church.
Activities bent on violating the cannons and traditions of the church are posing threats to its peace and unity, the patriarch stressed, noting to solve the problems through discussion, wisdom and legal means.
In order to come up with lasting solutions to the problems common to us all, it is important to follow the laws and order of the church and ultimately achieve peace and unity, the patriarch stressed.
The Patriarch also underlined the need for intensifying the role of the church in the ongoing efforts of Ethiopians towards overcoming challenges through their own way.
He also urged archbishops and bishops to discuss pertinent issues and come up with timely solutions to the apostolic mission and dogma of the church to resolve the challenges facing the church.
The Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church conducts its annual meetings twice a year in accordance with its tradition.
