Addis Ababa, August 15, 2020 (FBC) -A high-level government officials led by Temesgen Tiruneh, Chief Administrator of the Amhara regional state, has arrived in Semera to provide assistant to people affected by flooding in Afar regional state.
The delegation is composed of Minister of Innovation and Technology, Dr Abrham Belay, Minister of Revenues, Lake Ayalew, Minister of Education, Dr Engineer Getahun Mukuria and other senior officials.
Upon arrival at Sultan Alimirah Hanfare Airport, members of the delegation were received by Awel Arba, Chief Administrator of Afar regional state and other officials.
According the Disaster Risk Management and Food Security Program Coordination Office of Ethiopia a total of 49, 065 people were affected by flooding in the regional state.
Crops and animals in 10 woredas of the regional state were also damaged due to a heavy flooding caused by the overflow of Awash River.
