Health Minister confers with leadership of HBM Group

Addis Ababa, October 24, 2023 (FBC) – The Health Minister, Dr. Lia Tadesse discussed with leadership of the HBM Group on ways of supporting companies endeavors to widen investments in Ethiopia.

During the discussion, HBM Group announced it preparations to set up a company with a capacity of producing one million syringes on a daily basis in Kilinto Industrial Park in Ethiopia.

Representatives of HBM Group, during the discussion, announced their plan to produce gloves and other medical supplies by expanding their business in the country.

In her social media post, Dr. Lia said, “HBM Group, a renowned china based pharmaceutical company is establishing a syringe factory in Kilinto Industrial Park. This state-of-the-art facility will produce over 1 million syringes daily, and will expand to gloves and other medical supplies for local and regional market.”

Dr. Lia further encouraged the company to support Ethiopia’s efforts in technology transfer and import substitution in the health sector, pledging Ministry’s support to this end.

The members of the delegation had previously visited Kilinto Industrial Park and they stated that they were attracted by the infrastructure and service approach they saw in the Park and that helped them to make the decision.

HBM Group was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in New York City, USA. It is a giant company that manufactures various medical equipment and is a leader in the field in China.

The company has been cooperating with the Ethiopian Pharmaceuticals Supply Agency (EPSA) for the past 8 years and is exporting its products to more than 100 countries around the world.
