Addis Ababa, October 18, 2023 (FBC) – Health Extension Program is instrumental to the progress recorded in the sector in Ethiopia, the Minister of Health, Lia Taddese, said at the World Health Summit 2023.
The World Health Summit 2023 was held from 15 to 17 October in Berlin, Germany, and online under the theme: “A Defining Year for Global Health Action”.
The Ethiopian Health Minister has shared her country’s experience and success in implementing the Health Extension Program at the launch of country-led Community Health Delivery Partnership at World Health Summit 2023.
Investing in a strong, integrated, comprehensive primary health care prioritizing women, children and adolescents is crucial for the progress we need to make through aligned and increased government and donor funds, she said, adding that The Global Financing Facility for Women, Children & Adolescents (GFF) approach enhances this investment around a shared plan.
“We owe a lot of the progress in health outcomes of Ethiopia to our strong Health Extension program, which I was happy to share at the launch of country-led Community Health Delivery Partnership at World Health Summit to invest more on CH with alignment and accelerate progress for results,” the Minister said via a social media post after the event.
The World Health Summit 2023 brought together 3,100 participants from all sectors and regions in over 63 sessions to discuss the most pressing global health topics under the aforementioned theme.
