Addis Ababa, January 27, 2021 (FBC) – Haramaya University has facilitated job opportunities for 140 returnees in East Harerge Zone who have been recently repatriated from several countries.
The university has today reviewed the activities it has been undertaking in collaboration with International Organization for Migration (IOM) to reintegrate returnees and provide them with job opportunities.
An Reintegration Coordinator at Haramaya University, Dr. Ketema Bekele said a wide range of activities have been carried out with support of IOM to reintegrate and restore livelihoods of returnees who have come to their homeland from various countries in the world.
In an effort carried out for one and half year, the University has managed to create jobs in trade, cattle breeding, and electronic maintenance fields for returnees drawn from 12 Woredas of East Harerge Zone. He said the university has offered life skill and marketing skill trainings to beneficiaries.
The university has secured 9,400,000 Birr from IOM for the job facilitation works, it is indicated.
