Addis Ababa, August 26, 2023 (FBC) – 10,000m world champion Gudaf Tsegay and her compatriots are gearing up to dominate the women’s 5000m final at the World Athletics Championship this evening in Budapest.
Ethiopia will be represented at the women’s 5,000m final by Gudaf Tsegay, Ejigayehu Taye, Medina Eisa and Freweyni Hailu.
It is known that athlete Gudaf won the first gold medal for Ethiopia in Budapest in the women’s 10,000 meters final, where her compatriots Letesenbet Gidey and Ejigayehu Taye finished 2nd and 3rd to win the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Moreover, Ethiopia’s Amane Beriso (2:24:23) won the women’s marathon this morning, where her compatriot last year champion in Oregon Gotytom Gebreselassie racked up silver medal clocking 2:24:34.
At the World Athletics Championship being held in Budapest, Hungary, Ethiopia has so far won 2 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals and is ranked fourth on the table. Yet, Ethiopia hopes to rack up more medals in the remaining long and middle distance categories.
The nineteenth edition of World Athletics Championship concludes on Sunday 27 August 2023.
