Addis Ababa, December 23, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Disaster Risk Management Commission (EDRMC) confirmed that the Federal Government and humanitarian aid partners have delivered 124,573 metric tons of food and non-food supplies to Tigray region in the past few weeks.
EDRMC’s latest status report indicates that 110,509 MT of food and 14,064 MT of non-food items (medicines and medical equipment, emergency shelter, WASH material, education material, protection material, and agriculture inputs) were supplied to the region since mid-November.
The government alone has delivered 11,949.75 MT of wheat and 1,737 MT CSB out of the food items dispatched to the region.
879,980 litres of fuel and 798,050,495.34 Birr was also delivered to the region. Of the cash transported to the area, 598,087,635.39 Birr and 199,962,859.95 Birr was delivered via air transport (18 flights) to Mekele and Shire cities, respectively.
According to EDRMC, the humanitarian assistance was delivered via land and air transport. 3,117 trucks were deployed to transport the humanitarian supplies.
The report mentioned that 119 humanitarian aid partners have participated in the operation of aid deliveries through all the main corridors.
