Addis Ababa, July 4, 2020 (FBC) –The government has dispatched a team to investigate into the crimes committed in various parts of Oromia regional state following the killing of artist Hachalu Hundessa.
Members of the team are drawn from the federal attorney general, Oromia police commission and the regional state’s attorney general.
Fekadu Tsega, organized and cross-boundary crimes directorate at the federal attorney general, the team has already started its investigation into media suspected of fanning ethnic and religious conflicts.
Oromia Media Network (OMN), Asrat and Dimtse Weyane (DW) are among the suspects. In addition to the administrative measures taken against them, they will face the full enforcement of law.
Police searched the Addis Ababa studios of the three media houses Thursday and collected evidences, he added.
According to Fekadu, police will investigate the evidences to know whether they have direct link with the killing of artist Hachalu.
Artist Hachalu Hundessa was shot dead last Monday in Addis Ababa around a place called Gelan condominiums.
