Addis Ababa, August 11, 2020 (FBC) – The Federal Cooperative Agency said works are underway to avoid shortage in supply of agricultural products due to COVID-19.
Usman Surur, director general at the agency told FBC that the government has made available 800 million birr loan to cooperative unions to deal with supply shortages.
He stated that the way that the government acted to address shortage of funds in the sector due to coronavirus has born encouraging results.
According Usman, more than 1.5 million quintals of agricultural products were supplied to beneficiaries through the unions during the past four months.
In order to avoid shortage in supply of the products in the future, the government has made available 800 million birr loan to different unions, he said.
