Addis Ababa, December 2, 2022 (FBC) – Government of Ethiopia and Development Partners Group (DPG) held a discussion on how to integrate Humanitarian Development and Peace Nexus.
The State Minister of Planning and Development, Dr. Nemera Gebeyehu, said that the government is coordinating with development partners to create favorable conditions and ensure that support is in line with the country’s priority needs.
“In the past, international development partners who provide different support have been providing support separately and in different sectors. In particular, it is known that they have been supporting operations divided into humanitarian support, development support, and peace work support,” he noted.
“And a development partners group is coordinating this separate support and making a joint plan to implement it together. It helps to accumulate resources, and knowledge and identify support gaps in a common and coordinated way, it has also set a suitable direction for implementation.”
Dr. Nemera Gebeyehu added saying: “Although development partners have been providing various development support in the past, it has not been able to achieve the intended goal due to the fragmented way.” He stated that the new approach of development partners will be effective.
The state minister stressed that development partners should align their plans with the government’s focus and needs and pointed out that the government is working closely with development partners for this.
Dr. Nemera, who mentioned that a three-year government investment plan is being prepared, emphasized and explained that the integrated support of development partners will also be seen.
It is to be remembered that the hundred days plan of government and development partners was designed and prepared for implementation.
