Addis Ababa, August 26, 2023 (FBC) – The State of Emergency Central Command has expressed gratitude to relevant stakeholders for resolute commitment and support to the success of the Amhara region council emergency session.
Following the region’s return to relative normalcy, the Amhara Region Council held its 1st emergency session of the new fiscal year in Bahir Dar city. The council has accepted a letter of resignation from the former chief administrator Yilkal Kefale and appointed Mr. Arega Kebede as the new head of the regional government.
In its latest update issued today on current affairs, the State of Emergency Central Command asserted that the Amhara region is recovering from the violence inflicted by what it called “extremist and robber groups”.
Accordingly, the newly reformed regional government will address and come through the challenges paused in the region, the Central Command said.
Praising the leadership of the State of Emergency General Directorate and its four zonal command posts, the chain of the regional government, the peace-loving people of the region and members of the regional council for support to the successful emergency session, the General Directorate stated, disclosing that members of the region’s council resolutely overcame the internal and external conspiracy.
The statement added that the Central Command is chuffed by the region’s return to normalcy.
It underscored that this success testifies the determination of the people of the region to solve differences and challenges through dialogue, negotiation and peaceful means, not through violence and illegal means.
The State of Emergency General Directorate also reassured
support to the new regional leadership to succeed in its endeavors by completing the law enforcement mission in a short period of time.
