Addis Ababa, November 3, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) today announced the appointment of Gebremedihn Haile as the head coach of the national football team on a one-year contract.
The head coach will begin preparations soon ahead of the Walias’ World Cup 2026 Africa Zone qualifiers in the upcoming international break in mid November.
It is to be recalled that Ethiopian Football Federation Technical Director Daniel Gebremariam was the caretaker coach for the Walias’ last few matches since the departure of the previous head coach Wubetu Abate.
The Ethiopia national team will play two games as a home team against Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso in the FIFA World Cup CAF Zone Qualifiers 2023 Group A at El Abdi Stadium, Al Jadida, Morocco, on November 15 and 21, respectively, EFF further confirmed.
It is learned that Gebremedihn will also continue his role as the coach of Ethiopian Insurance Football Club until the end of the current Ethiopian Premier League season.
