Addis Ababa, December 24, 2022 (FBC) – The FDRE Government Communication Service Minister, Legese Tulu, called for the drive to fight together against corrupt practices that hinder democracy in Ethiopia.
In his remarks at the anti-corruption investigative journalism training in Adama city, the Minister said that corrupt practices are impediments to achieve the desired democratic nation-building efforts.
He emphasized that the media, in particular, should fight these corrupt practices, indicating that capacity building is pivotal.
The Minister mentioned that the capacity gap and political situation were hidnering the media and communication from fulfilling their mission, underlining the essence to discard these capacity gaps.
The GCS Minister said that the ongoing training will enable the media to monitor and utilize the existing capacities.
He also underscored that the media should stand together to foil the obstacles by meeting and discussing together.
It is stated that the training was organized by the Ethiopian Press Agency Training Center, FDRE Government Communication Service, Ethiopian Institute of the Ombudsman, Office of the Federal Auditor General-Ethiopia, and Public Procurement & Property Administration Agency.
It is also stated that various media and communication experts, leaders and stakeholders are participating in the two-day training.
