GBHHC to set up Headquarters in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, November 16, 2023 (FBC) – The Global Black Heritage History and Education Centre (GBHHC) is to set up its headquarters in Addis Ababa on December 8, 2023.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Meles Alem, while delivering the Ministry’s biweekly press briefing, said the center’s decision to open its headquarters in Ethiopia is a recognition of the country’s vibrant history in Pan-African movements.

He said it is a great opportunity to have the center in Addis Ababa to further boost Ethiopia’s standing in the tourism sector too, the ambassador added.

It is to be recalled that GBHHC’s delegation paid a 10-day working visit to Ethiopia last April and met with high-level government officials.

Ambassador Meles also spoke about the recent meeting between Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) and Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, where the Ethiopian leader affirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to the peace and stability of the brotherly people of Sudan.

According to Ambassador Meles, the discussions between the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Demeke Mekonnen, and the World Bank’s Regional Director, Ousmane Dione, as well as Tanzania’s Foreign Minister, Mr. January Makamba helped Ethiopia advance its interests.
