Federalist Forces Coalition supports election postponement

Addis Ababa, May 14, 2020 (FBC) – Coalition of Ethiopian Federalist Forces has announced support to the decision made by the government to postpone the upcoming national elections.

In its urgent meeting held today in Addis Ababa, the coalition stated its consent to postponement of the election because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“COVID 19 has changed circumstances in the world. The reality remains the same Ethiopia.” The coalition said.

Recalling that it was pushing for a scheduled election in previous meetings, the coalition noted that it agreed to the decision made to prolong the vote due to the pandemic.

“Fighting COVID 19 and foiling the current national threats should be the foremost agenda of the country; therefore, we support the postponement of the election” the parties in the coalition agreed.

“We are set to struggle for holistic benefit of citizens and wellbeing of the nation not to hand on voices of others.” the coalition stated.

The coalition further called up on the public to continue support for successful completion GERD.

The Coalition of Ethiopian Federalist Forces opened its office in Addis Ababa where it held its first session, it is indicated.
