Addis Ababa, March 8, 2024 (FBC) – The European Union, the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Cyprus will jointly launch the Cyprus Maritime Corridor to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday.
“The key challenge is to get the aid to the people on the ground in Gaza … That is why today the Republic of Cyprus, the European Commission, the United Arab Emirates and the United States, of course, supported by other critical partners, announced our intent to open the [Cyprus] Maritime Corridor to deliver much needed additional amount of humanitarian assistance by sea,” von der Leyen said during her visit to Cyprus.
The corridor is set to open on Sunday, the official added, according to Sputnik.
