Addis Ababa, December 12, 2022 (FBC) – The European Union (EU) has pledged €35 million financial support to Ethiopia to assist food security and nutrition supply, notably in conflict affected areas.
It is said that the European Union provided the financial backing to support the Rural Productive Safety Net Programme (RPSNP).
The grant agreement was signed in the presence of the Ethiopian State Minister for Finance, Semerita Sewasew, the Ambassador of the European Union to Ethiopia, Roland Kobia, and the Operations Manager at the World Bank to Ethiopia, Doina Petrescu.
The European Union Ambassador to Ethiopia, Roland Kobia, stated that the EU has a strong cooperation with Ethiopia, expressing his satisfaction with the support given.
The funds will be managed by World Bank to the direct benefit of Ethiopians, he confirmed on Twitter.
The Ethiopian Minister of State for Finance, Semerita Sewasew, for her part, said that the support the union is providing to Ethiopia is crucial.
