Addis Ababa, November 13, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, received and held discussions with Sophie From-Emmesberger, the European Union Ambassador to Ethiopia, in his office.
FM Gedion highlighted the crucial partnership of the European Union in Ethiopia’s efforts to enhance socio-economic sectors.
The Minister said that Ethiopia is committed to strengthening its relations with the European Union and is particularly interested in expanding the ties in development cooperation, trade, and investment.
He also provided the Ambassador with an update on the current regional peace and security situation.
Ambassador Sophie From-Emmesberger, on her part, noted that representatives from the 22 EU member states are present in Addis Ababa and emphasized that the EU places special focus on its strategic relationship with Ethiopia.
The Ambassador mentioned that over 180 European companies are operating in Ethiopia and noted that the ongoing macroeconomic reforms in the country provide more opportunities for these companies.
Ambassador Sophie From-Emmesberger also highlighted the vital role the national dialogue commission is playing in fostering sustainable peace and stability in Ethiopia, as per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
