EU commits €31.5mln financial support for restoration of conflict-ridden health facilities

Addis Ababa, July 10, 2023 (FBC) – The European Union (EU) has provided financing (EUR 31.5M) for the restoration and rehabilitation of 160 conflict affected health facilities mainly in Ethiopia’s northern regions (Tigray, Amhara and Afar), EU in Ethiopia confirmed.

The project activities focus on renovation and construction of damaged health facilities, strengthening of one-stop centres for Gender Based Violence (GBV) services, and provision of health services using alternative service delivery modes (including mobile health, temporary clinics, and/or outreach services targeting IDPs having limited access to health services in conflict affected areas.

Accordingly, EU Ambassador to Ethiopia Roland Kobia and Dr Dereje Duguma, State Minister of Health launched EU-UNICEF CARE4Health project which aims at rehabilitation and restoration of health services in conflict affected areas, particularly in Tigray, Amhara and Afar regions.
