Addis Ababa, November 11, 2021 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Soil Information System (EthioSIS) has launched a state-of-the-art soil database in a bid to enhance agricultural productivity.
Geo Referenced soil samples from a 2.5km radius throughout Ethiopia’s arable land and detailed maps providing up-to-date soil fertility data have been produced and made ready through the database, it is indicated.
The Ethiopian Soil Information System (EthioSIS), a project launched by the Ethiopian Government’s Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA) in 2012.
Over the last ten years, ATA has conducted over 250 studies aimed at capacitating the agricultural sector, it is indicated.
