Addis Ababa, March 20, 2025 (FMC) — Members of the parliament (MPs) are directing questions to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed today at the session of the House of People’s Representatives.
The MPs are raising questions on a spectrum of pressing national issues and economic activities of the country.
Those queries of MPs also encompass peace and security, the current status of the implementation of the Pretoria Agreement was signed in 2022 between the federal government and TPLF that has ended the northern Ethiopian conflict.
Furthermore, Members of the House have demanded response on the efforts of the Ethiopian government to prevent any confrontation as there has been an escalation between the TPLF factions.
The Prime Minister has been also asked about the nationwide consultation to nurture lasting peace in the country and realize national consensus through a shared narrative.
Members of the parliament also extended appreciation to the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed which has persisted unprecedented challenges and make the economy grow.
They particularly, highlighted success stories like the construction of new tourism destinations, macroeconomic reform programs and the newly inaugurated SkyWin Aeronautics Industries, a company that manufactures unmanned aerial vehicles for both civilian and military use.
The also appreciated the country’s efforts in defense capability, adding that Ethiopia is witnessing tremendous advancements in terms of defense manufacturing, particularly the launch of SkyWin Aeronautics Industries has marked a transformative shift in its military and strategic landscape.
The MPs also cited the nation’s progressive endeavors to secure seaport to accommodate the steadily growing economy.
