Ethiopia’s COVID-19 cases rise to 306

Addis Ababa, May 16, 2020 (FBC) –The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ethiopia has risen to 306 after 19 people tested positive over the past 24 hours.

According to a statement the Ministry of Health issued today, the new cases were identified out of the 4,044 samples tested during the past 24 hours.

All the confirmed cases are Ethiopian nationals from 16-55 years of age, of which 15 have a travel history abroad.

Of the new positive cases, two are from Addis Ababa, two from Oromia, three from Tigray, one from Amhara, and 11 from Somali regional states.

One patient has also recovered from the virus during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 113.

Ethiopia has so far conducted 53, 029 laboratory tests and reported five deaths from the virus. There are now a total of 186 patients in treatment centers.
