Ethiopian business, trade delegation to travel to Saudi Arabia next week

Addis Ababa, January 8, 2025 (FMC) – The representatives of the Ethiopian business community are anticipated to visit Saudi Arabia next week and explore opportunities in order to strengthen economic relations between the two countries.

Ethiopian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Muktar Kedir conferred with Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi, Engeener Waleed El-Khereiji.

Accordingly, the two sides discussed bilateral relations Between Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia as well as the regional affairs.

In particular, they thoroughly reviewed the implementation the first Ethio-Saudi Political Consultations held in Riyadh from 1st to 5th December, 2024,.

The first round of political consultations between the two countries was led and consultations focused on ways to enhance cooperation in various fields such as developments as well as regional and international issues.

In the two day’s discussion, Ambassador Muktar and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs discussed Ethiopia’s great investment climate for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) that more Saudi’s investors are eagerly eying this opportunity.

From the Saudi Arabia side, they also stressed the need for paying attention to and signing the Agreement on the Protection and Promotion of Investment.

Ambassador DMukhtar, for his part, stated that he had constructive discussions with the leaders of the Saudi Business Council to facilitate investment and trade relations between the two countries and discussed other prerequisites.

He added that representatives of the Ethiopian business community will be in Saudi Arabia next week to hold discussions, according to Ethiopian Embassy in Riyadh.
