Addis Ababa, April 26, 2021 (FBC) – Ethiopians living in South Sudan have celebrated the commencement of construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
Ethiopian Ambassador to South Sudan, Nebil Mahdi, on the occasion, said Ethiopians living in South Sudan always stand by the people and government of Ethiopia when their help is needed.
They have extended support to the Ethiopian National Defence Force when the TPLF Junta had attacked the Northern Command Post, and are still contributing for the construction of the dam and “Dine for Ethiopia” Initiative, he said.
Saying that GERD is an African Project for Africans, the ambassador underlined Ethiopia’s unwavering stance to resolve issues with the two riparian countries.
It is stated on the occasion that Ethiopian in South Sudan have so far purchased GERD bond in support of successful completion of the dam.
