Addis Ababa, March 28, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopians and Eritreans living in the U.S. are protesting against H.R. 6600 (Ethiopia Stabilization, Peace and Democracy Act) and S. 3199 (Ethiopia Peace and Democracy Promotion Act) that have been proposed by congress men and senators of the U.S to impose sanctions on Ethiopia.
In the demonstration being held in front of Capitol Hill, the Ethiopians and Eritreans are calling upon the U.S. congress and senate to cancel the draft bills that they describe as counterproductive tools.
The demonstrators said that the proposed draft bills do not measure up to the longstanding relationship between Ethiopia and the U.S. rather they undermine the ongoing peace efforts in the country put socio economic situation at stake.
United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations will deliberate on S. 3199 tomorrow.
