Addis Ababa, May 16, 2023 (FBC) – Russian geologists, together with their Ethiopian colleagues, will be able to unlock the potential of Ethiopia’s mineral resources, said Evgeny Petrov, Head of Federal Agency for Mineral Resources of the Russian Federation.
Speaker of the House of Federation of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Agegnehu Teshager, held a working meeting on Monday with Evgeny Petrov, Head of Federal Agency for Mineral Resources of the Russian Federation and Co-chairperson of the Intergovernmental Russian-Ethiopian Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation and Trade.
It is said that the key mechanism for bilateral cooperation between the countries is the Intergovernmental Russian-Ethiopian Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation and Trade.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the results of further cooperation as well as its prospects in the field of geology, subsoil use, energy, agricultural industry, education and other areas within the competence of the Intergovernmental Commission, according to Russian Embassy in Ethiopia.
Evgeny Petrov stressed that Russian geologists, together with their Ethiopian colleagues, will be able to unlock the potential of Ethiopia’s mineral resources and help attract investment in the extractive industries. As a result of this, new jobs will be created, and tax revenues to the state budget will increase.
