Ethiopian President holds phone talks with her Estonian counterpart

Addis Ababa, April 17, 2020 (FBC) – President Sahle-Work Zewde held phone talks with her Estonian counterpart, President Kersti Kaljulaid.

The two compared notes on steps being taken to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus, according to Office of the President.

The Presidents agreed that a coordinated effort is needed in order to overcome this challenge.

President Kaljulaid appreciated the work of Ethiopian health extension workers in raising awareness and the initiative taken by Ethiopian Airlines to serve as a distribution hub for health commodities to various African countries.

She also highlighted the many initiatives being implemented in Estonia and in Europe to combat the spread of the virus.

President Sahle-Work elaborated on the many steps being taken to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 in Ethiopia and highlighted the country’s interest in implementing digital solutions in the fight against COVID-19.

She further stated that Ethiopia is interested in implementing the many innovative digital solutions that Estonia has garnered international acclaim for.
