Ethiopian President congratulates Putin on Victory Day

Addis Ababa, May 9, 2020 (FBC) -President Sahle-Work Zewde has sent a letter of congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Victory Day.

Russia marked 75 years since victory over Nazi Germany in World War II today despite cancelling its traditional military parade because of the coronavirus outbreak.

“On behalf of the People and Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and on my own behalf, I would like to extend to Your Excellency and through you to the People and Government of the Russian Federation warm congratulations on the occasion marking your country’s Victory Day, the 75th anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic second world war,” said the Ethiopian President.

In the letter, President Sahle-Work also expressed Ethiopia’s full solidarity with Russia in mitigating and eradicating the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic, which is currently affecting both countries.
