Addis Ababa, July 22, 2024 (FBC) – The Ethiopian athletics delegation, set to participate in the 33rd Olympic Games scheduled to take place in Paris, will embark on their journey to the French capital tomorrow, as confirmed by the Ethiopian Athletics Federation (EAF).
A ceremonial send-off for the national Olympic delegation was held this evening at the national palace, attended by President Sahle-Work Zewde, Speaker of the House of Federation Mr. Agegnehu Teshager, Minister of Culture and Sports Ms. Shewit Shanka, President of the Ethiopian Olympic Committee Ashebir Woldegiorgis, and President of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation Derartu Tulu, among others.
Federal and regional government officials, members of the national Olympic team, and other invited guests were also in attendance.
The 33rd Olympic Games are set to take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024, featuring a total of 10,714 athletes from 206 countries, including independent athletes competing under the umbrella of the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Refugee Team. These athletes will compete in 32 sports.
Ethiopia’s Olympic Team will participate in athletics, swimming, and boxing, with a total of 39 athletes representing the country at the prestigious event.
