Ethiopian Minister, WB director discuss successes & future focus of Rural Productive Safety Net Project

Addis Ababa, December 5, 2024 (FMC) – During a meeting held today between the Ethiopian Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Girma Amente, and Trina Haque, the Regional Director for Human Development in the Western and Central Africa Region at the World Bank, the significance of the Rural Productive Safety Net Project was emphasized.

The project has been instrumental in revitalizing degraded lands in rural Ethiopia and implementing various natural resource development and conservation initiatives to ensure food security for the rural community.

According to Mr. Girma, the Rural Productive Safety Net Project has yielded promising results in benefiting the rural community and improving their livelihoods.

He highlighted the importance of strengthening the efforts being undertaken under the project by incorporating new ideas and focus areas in the next implementation phase.

For her part, Trina Haque echoed Mr. Girma’s sentiments and emphasized the importance of building on the current efforts of the project by incorporating new ideas and focus areas in the next implementation phase.

She noted that the significance of the Rural Productive Safety Net Project and the activities being carried out to enhance the livelihood of the rural community have shown promising results.
