Ethiopian, Japanese PMs hold phone talks on addressing COVID-19 crisis

Addis Ababa, April 21, 2020 (FBC) –Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed has held phone discussion with Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo.

The discussion focused on ways to tackle coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. The Ethiopian Prime Minister tweeted the following after the talks:

Ethiopia and Japan declared a nationwide state of emergency to halt the spread of the virus. Ethiopia’s emergency decree will remain in force for five months.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Japan passed 11,000, with 263 deaths related to the virus. Ethiopia has now 114 confirmed cases and three deaths.
