Addis Ababa, December 10, 2020 (FBC) –The National Disaster Risk Management Commission (NDRMC) has said it is transporting humanitarian aid to Tigray.
The Commission said 30 trucks carrying more than 12,000 quintals of wheat today arrived in the city of Mekelle, the capital of Tigray regional state.
The trucks had left from the Commission’s Adama and Kombolcha warehouses and preparations are underway to distribute the aid among residents.
The Commission sent 44 truckloads of humanitarian aid to Shire town yesterday and emergency food assistance transported to Almata town in the past five days is being distributed to residents.
Works are also underway to send additional 15,000 metric tonnes of aid to the region, said Commissioner Mitiku Kassa of the National Disaster Risk Management Commission.
According to him, the humanitarian aid which included rice, flour and other related food items is being provided only by the Ethiopian government.
