Addis Ababa, May 8, 2020 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs has held a phone conversation with his Estonian counterpart Urmas Reinsalu.
The two discussed ways to bolster bilateral relations and cooperation to fight the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Gedu extended his congratulations to Estonia on its election as current president of the UN Security Council (UNSC) and wished the nation a successful presidential term.
He said Ethiopia is committed to further cement its bilateral ties and cooperation with Estonia in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
Gedu also briefed Reinsalu on the positive role Ethiopia has been playing to maintain peace in the region and the progress of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), a project that could significantly transform the economy of the region.
The Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu for his part said his country will work to bolster it ties with Ethiopia.He also appreciated Ethiopia’s role to maintain peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.
Reinsalu added that differences between Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt regarding GERD project should be addressed only through a peaceful dialogue.
