Ethiopian envoy to Kuwait meets with Kenyan, Eritrean diplomats

Addis Ababa, April 21, 2021 (FBC) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Kuwait, Hassen Taju met with Kenyan Ambassador Halima Mohammed and Eritrean Head of Mission Humed Hali.

The discussion focused on how to further cement ties with Ethiopia and the two brotherly countries, Eritrea and Kenya.

Ambassador Taju briefed the ambassadors on reform agendas, law enforcement operation and the ongoing humanitarian activities in Tigray, Ethiopia’s readiness to resolve dispute with Sudan and preparation being carried out to conduct the 6th national elections.

He further highlighted the importance of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissace Dam (GERD) in enhancing regional economic integration and the trilateral negotiations on the dam with riparian countries.

The ambassadors, to themselves, appreciated Ambassador Hassen for the clarification and vowed readiness of their countries to cooperate with Ethipian in several areas of engagements.

In related story, Ethiopian Ambassador to South Sudan, Nabil Mahdi has met Deng Dau, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan to discuss bilateral and regional issues of common concern.

The Ambassador detailed the status of the negotiations over the GERD, the Ethiopia-Sudan border dispute, and the current situations in Tigray.

The discussion between the two sides included ways to further protect the rights of Ethiopian citizens residing in South Sudan.

Ambassador Nabil also expressed the interests of Ethiopian Airlines to engage in the aviation sector of South Sudan.

Deputy Minister Deng Dau appreciated the longstanding relations between the two countries and underscored the need to further cement these ties with various engagements.

The return of Tigray into normalcy is encouraging news, he said following the briefings of the ambassador on current situations in the region.
