Addis Ababa, December 13, 2019 (FBC) –Ethiopian Ambassador to Sudan, Shiferaw Jarso, has delivered a message from Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed to Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok.
Ambassador Shiferaw and Prime Minister Hamdok also held discussion on bilateral relations between the two nations, regional issues of mutual concern and the situations of Ethiopians living in Sudan.
The discussion also centred on reinforcing economic ties, use of port, connecting the two countries in road and railway facilities, as well as on preparations for the Ethio-Sudan joint steering committee meeting.
Ambassador Shiferaw expressed his concern over the recently approved law by the government of Sudan which bans foreign nationals from trade activities.
He requested the Sudanese Government to take into account the longstanding and historical people-to-people ties between the two countries to avoid the suffering of Ethiopians while implementing the law.
Prime Minister Hamdok said that the law is not applicable to Ethiopians, stating that they are also contributing to the Sudanese economy.
