Ethiopian embassy briefs IGAD, African ambassadors in Turkey on current situation in Tigray

Addis Ababa, December 18, 2020 (FBC) –Ethiopian Ambassador to Turkey, Girma Temesgen, briefed ambassadors of IGAD member states and other African countries based in Ankara on the current situation in Ethiopia.

Ambassador Girma told FBC that the briefing which focused on the concluded law enforcement operation in Tigray, ongoing rebuilding efforts and humanitarian assistance was also attended by heads of mission of European and Asian countries.

After concluding the operation promptly, the government is now engaged in providing humanitarian aid and restoration of infrastructure damaged by the defiant TPLF force.

An interim administration had been established in Tigray regional state and it has now taken office and started works, ambassador Girma indicated.

The ambassador also thanked the African Union (AU) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) for their support for the law enforcement operation in Tigray.

Previously, the embassy had a briefing to various officials of Turkish government, including the Foreign Minister, about the current situation in Ethiopia.
