Addis Ababa, November 11, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Diaspora Service announced that a 250-member international advisory board will be established to enhance the contribution of the diaspora to the development of the country.
The service held a discussion today to strengthen the participation of members of the diaspora community in the country’s comprehensive development activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Ethiopian Diaspora Service Director-General Mohamed Indris said the diaspora has been making significant contributions, responding to the government’s call when the country was in difficulty.
In addition to financial support, the diaspora have been providing support for various development projects and playing important role in the transfer of knowledge, skills and technology.
The contribution of the diaspora to the development and growth of Ethiopia is growing from time to time, the director-general said, adding that this participation of the diaspora needs to be strengthened.
The main objective of the board to be established soon would, therefore, be consolidating further the participation of members of the Ethiopian Diaspora, according to Mohamed.
The government is also exerting maximum efforts to engage the diaspora by developing various packages so that the diaspora can participate in the country’s development activities.
