Addis Ababa, November 30, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian delegation is participating in the 27th Conference of the State Parties of the Chemical Weapons Convention (OPCW) in The Hague, Netherlands.
The Ethiopian delegation was led by Hadgu Hailekiros, Deputy Director General of Institute of Manufacturing Industry Development.
The 27th Session of the Conference of the State Parties (CSP) to the Convention of Chemical Weapons was officially launched on November 28, 2022, in The Hague, the Netherlands.
The meeting is discussing, among others, on issues arising from international Cooperation for peaceful purposes of Chemicals up to the OPCW programme for Africa in the coming three days.
Ethiopia advocates for capacity building of countries in developing peaceful use of chemicals through relevant programs of the OPCW.
This is the first in-person Session of the Conference since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, according to the Embassy of Ethiopia in Brussels.
The OPCW has 193 member countries that are State Parties to the Convention of Chemical Weapons. Ethiopia is a signatory of the Convention and founding member of the OPCW.
