Addis Ababa, April 21, 2022 (FBC) – Faithful of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo and Ethiopian Catholic Churches are observing the Holy Thursday (Maundy) with various religious and spiritual events across the nation.
Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Abune Matias along with Archbishops, Bishops and a large number of faithful has attended the Holy Thursday religious ceremony at the Patriarchate St. Marry Church in the capital Addis Ababa.
The religious leaders including his Holiness Abune Matias have conducted the foot washing ceremony based examples of the Lord Jesus Christ who washed the foot of his disciples to teach humility for the human kind.
Likewise, the Ethiopian Catholic Church has observed the Holy Thursday with various religious and spiritual ceremonies in the presence of Cardinal of the Ethiopian Catholic Church, Abune Berhaneyesus Surafel and other religious fathers.
The religious fathers called on the faithful to follow examples of Jesus Christ by showing love, forgiveness and kindness to the needy while celebrating the Holly Week and the Easter Festival as well.
